BRIEF HISTORY
Ogun Baptist Conference inaugurated Patterson Memorial Baptist Grammar School on the 10th of October 1995 with a commencement service conducted by Rev. L.O. Nasiru (the then Ogun Baptist Conference Chairman) at the Glorious Baptist Church, Oke Egunya, Abeokuta. The school, Patterson Memorial Baptist Grammar School (PMBGS) is named after Rev I.N. Patterson a missionary and former Principal of BBHS Abeokuta.
The site had been occupied by both BBHS and Ogun State Polytechnic now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic,Abeokuta in the past. The renovation of the site started with a sum of fifty Thousand Naira released by the Conference through the office of Treasurer, Mr. J.O. Bamiduro (now Deacon). The work was supervised by Prince J.O. Ogunmuyiwa and his team. Old classrooms were renovated, new ones built while a new dormitory was built for the female students who would be Boarders.
The school was supervised by the Board of Governors consisting of members drawn from different Baptist Churches at inception. The first PMBGS members of Governors are as follows
1. Prince A.O. Oyekanmi Chairman
2. Mrs. M.K. Olokode Secretary
3. Late Rev E.A. Osinubi Conference Secretary
4. Rev J.O. Olaleye
5. Chief E.A. Ogunremi
6. Prince J.O. Ogunmuyiwa
7. Chief Mrs. A.O. Adebayo
The first Principal of the School is Deacon E.O. Abegunde 1995-2000. The school got provisional approval on the 17th of May, 1996. The final approval came about a month later, precisely on the 21st June, 1996. The Chairman of the Board of Governors of the school Prince A.O. Oyekanmi used his influence and wealth of experience as a former Director of Education at the Ogun State Ministry of Education to facilitate the Government approval for the school.
Among the pioneer staff are Dn. E.O. Abegunde (1st Principal), Mrs. Balogun, Mr. E.O. Olonade who served as Typist/Account Clerk until the school was able to afford an Accountant. The first Manager/Proprietor was Rev. Layi Olaleye. He donated his three months salaries/stipend totaling (N66,000.00) to aid the development of the school.
One of the initial problems confronting the school was the low enrolment of student and the registration of the school with the West African Examination Council (WAEC). Student enrolment as at the year 2000 was sixty five. In September, 2000 a new Principal -Mrs. O.O. Osoba came on Board. To surmount this problem summer coaching was organised for students. This led to an improvement in the school enrolment at the beginning of the 2001/2002 school session. The graduating set and subsequent ones performed creditably well in the JSCE and NECO Examinations.
Ogun Baptist Conference is heavily indebted to the school Board of Governors under the leadership of Prince A.O. Oyekanmi and the school Principal Mrs. O.O. Osoba both of who worked assiduously to improve the initial low enrolment of student so much that the available classrooms was not able to accommodate the students. The plan to move part of the school from Oke Egunya to the permanent site at Idi Aba could not be deferred again. The School has being waxing strong academically, structurally, financially, morally and otherwise since then.
Mrs. O.O. Osoba left the school in September, 2007 and a new principal Dn. Boye Oyelude, was appointed. Dn. Boye Oyelude assumed duty on the 1st of October 2007 and he served till 2014. Deaconess D.O. Makinde, another seasoned School Administrator came on Board the leadership of the School in 2014. A new Board of Governors was inaugurated under the leadership of Mrs. M.K. Olokode after Prince A.O. Oyekanmi’s team left on the completion of their tenure and having put the school on a very solid foundation.

RESULTS
A. WASCE: The results of our students have been very encouraging, we give God all the glory, we are very confident that our students can defend their certificates in any institutions of higher learning either in Nigeria or Overseas. We are proud of them for they were not in any way aided during the examinations. The WASCE results keep improving every year.
B. NECO: Unlike previous years, result of NECO examinations have improved tremendously, this could be attributed to the enforcement of a policy of compulsory stay in the hostel for SS3 students after the WAEC examination. As a result of our students’ brilliant performance, a lot of them are now in various Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions, we bless the name of the Lord for this.
C. BECE: The Basic Education Certificate Examination results have also been very encouraging. The School had 100% at credit level in the last attempt and efforts are being put in place to see that the good academic heights attained are sustained.
The school has engaged the services of full time Chaplain who is responsible for the spiritual wellbeing of both staff and students. He was Rev. Allen Timilehin Olatunde, outgone chaplain as at June 2019. It is a balanced school in terms of academic and spiritual matters. It is one of the best schools in Ogun State in term of academic and spiritual achievement.
